Are you a daydreamer? Do you feel deep longing and unbearable shame?
Me too!
I have turned my neverending daydreams and great shame into a narrative rpg-game. I lay before you:
- an intricate story with many different possible paths and endings
- complex characters with filthy secrets and unbearable shame
- complicated families with dramatic pasts, debatable moral and questionable love for their children/parents
- so many choices with so many consequences, sometimes of an … inhuman nature (the mind of a daydreamer is a spider web of red threads with endless possible scenarios with hundreds of variables)
- a colorful (but not cozy) hand drawn world that’s more odd than it might seem at first glance - it takes place in Sweden and has many things to explore and discover
- 2 playable characters → 2 very different experiences with different content
- a great amount of good writing - so be prepared to read!
- dialogue and choice heavy gameplay
- a game mechanic where shame and mind affects the gameplay
- repression, perversion and so much shame - but also hope!
Don't be fooled by the cute colorful childish simple art style - this game is not for children. It contains adult and disturbing themes. Meant for mature audiences only.
shame and choices = possible apocalypse
This is a narrative rpg game where choices have severe consequences, and shame and mental health affects possibilities and limitations, set in a world that's like a minefield where your actions can cause the world to reach a dead end.
The game takes place during 7 days - Monday to Sunday. There will be several different possible endings.
Learn about the effects of shame and mind and try different choices, and don’t be afraid to fail - some mistakes can lead to new knowledge after all :))
Choose your vessel of shame!
Play as either Elias or Felix and discover their filthy secrets, get to know their complicated families and try to reach Sunday without fucking everything up.
Who are these boys you can play as? Which one should you play as? Let's ask the parents of the boys!
Elliott, tell me about your son.
Elliott: "Hmm ... Elias ... Well ... He's ... a psychopathic pervert and aggressive animal who began life by murdering his own mother. Don't play as him. Who knows what he's capable of ..."
Okay ...
Levi, should I play as your son, Felix, (or as you call him, Cain)?
Levi: "Ha! Sure, if you want to play as a pathetic coward and special snowflake with strong school shooter vibes that will probably end up becoming an incel ..."
Do you trust the words of the parents..? What kind of people are these boys, actually......?
Which character you choose to play as will greatly affect your experience, and it’s recommended to try to play as both characters to get the fullest picture of their world and understand how and why it can reach a dead end because of your choices or lack thereof, and to figure out how to avoid it happening.
Regarding the adult content
This game contains adult themes of sexual and violent nature. There will be depictions of sensitive topics such as sexual violence, depression, anxiety, self hate, suicide, trauma and shame. There will be themes of harmful family relations and dynamics. Most of the sexual and violent themes will be depicted through text, however, there will be some light nudity as well, and use of alcohol and light drugs.

What can you find in the DEMO of The Shame of a Daydreamer?
- 1 of 7 days
- the beginning of an intricate story that will have many different possible paths and endings
- a first meeting with some of the complex characters with filthy secrets and unbearable shame
- complicated families with dramatic pasts, debatable moral and questionable love for their children/parents
- many choices with many consequences - not close to as much as the full game, but still some!
- 2 playable characters → 2 very different experiences with different content
- a colorful (but not cozy) hand drawn world that’s more odd than it might seem at first glance - it takes place in Sweden and has many things to explore and discover
- a great amount of good writing - so be prepared to read!
- dialogue and choice heavy gameplay
- a game mechanic where shame and mind affects the gameplay
- repression, perversion and so much shame
- 2 different endings depending on which character you choose
- a soft start to a hard game (not combat wise, but as in choices = consequences, sometimes cruel)
The demo takes place during 1 of the 7 days + a kind of epilogue to the first day (or a prologue to the second day). So - you start the game on Monday, and I encourage you to explore the city and discover what the world and their characters have to show you (and hide from you).
When you feel done with the day you go to sleep and after that you experience a scene (very different depending on which character you play as) and then the demo ends - where in the full game Tuesday would start. So make sure you explore everything you want to explore before going to sleep - because after bedtime, things will be different!
How long is the demo?
One playthrough, one character, can be ≈ 1 hour of gameplay - it depends on some of the choices you make and the consequences you can end up with and how much you explore etc.

I love the dialogue options, and since you can only perform certain actions if you lower your shame, I'm sure in the full version of the game I'll spend hours and hours repeating actions with the stats changed to see what changes.
Felix's part was being less fun for me (mainly because i already did most of the interactions with Elias), but Felix's unique interactions were fun, and the ending of his part left me so intrigued I think I ended up liking it even more than Elias's.
I quite like the interaction with the PC because you can type in what you want to search for. I imagine there will be some interesting things to search for in the full game, and I think it will be interesting to see what you can search for.
I didn't realize until after playing it that the characters have a set amount of money and it goes down if you buy stuff, I thought it was infinite haha, so I'll probably play it again to see if I can buy other stuff if I don't spend the money on beer.
Finally, and just for feedback, when you go to the sushi shop you can walk over the door, walk above the buildings and get stuck there. It's not a big bug and doesn't ruin the experience at all, but I figured you'd want to know :) (I left a screenshot of that) (I don't want to sound like I'm criticizing the game, I really loved the demo and I'm looking forward to playing the full version, but I figured you'd want feedback on these things)
I loved the demo, I'm really looking forward to playing the full version, i'll see if I can pay something here to help the development because I really liked it a lot :))
edit: I know absolutely nothing about game development, so maybe the things I say are nonsense or intentional, but anyways haha, maybe it's not possible to do it but, at least for me, it's a bit awkward to play with the direction arrows instead of using WASD. It's not a big deal and you get used to it after a while so it's not a problem, but maybe a controls section in the settings where you can change that would be nice :D
Thank you so much for your kind words and your feedback! I appreciate it very much :)) It really warms my heart and makes me more motivated to continue working on it < 3
I'm very happy that you find the characters interesting, and are curious to find out more about them - it's one of my main goals when writing this game! I really love my characters a lot and it warms me when other people like them as well :))
And I really appreciate the feedback also regarding bugs etc - there are so many different possible interactions resulting in many possible bugs that I might not even have thought about, so it's really helpful when players discover them. I will fix all the mistakes that are discovered!
Regarding the money; you start with 0 kr, and then you can find wallets in different rooms and get more money (there will be more rooms/locations to discover in the full game - for example you will be able to recruit Ester and Justine during the later days.)
I will try to see if I can add so that you can play with WASD as well - I myself play with a controller and when playing on keyboard I prefer the arrows since I'm not at all used to the WASD so I didn't think about that, so I appreciate this input from you!
Thank you and stay tuned for the full game - it's fairly far developed :))
WOW this looks so goooooooood
thank you :)))
Really cool demo with tons of different interactions depending on your choices. Loved exploring the world and getting to know the characters!!
thank you so much :)))
The trailer looks interesting! i love the hand-drawn look and the music O_O!
Thank you :))
